	6th October 2016 Start of ECVS 2016/2017 Season I hope you have had a good summer and now that the nights are drawing in it is that time of year again. It is now time for the ECVS new season to commence this Thursday 6th October at 7.30pm at the clubrooms 23a Fettes Row, Edinburgh. The new programme will commence with the President Presents, Peter Dick, giving an overview of his own Drone flying experiences and showing spectacular footage of them. The new ECVS, October to April, programme will be also be available. We look forward to seeing you on the night!
	5th November 2015 Choice of the Clubs ECVS are now accepting entries for the Choice of the Clubs Competition 2016! The deadline for films to be accepted is 31st December, 2015. An updated entry form for the Choice of the Clubs Competition 2015/2016 has been made available here.
	1st October 2015 Start of the ECVS 2015/16 Season The 2015/2016 season of Edinburgh Cine and Video Society gets off to a high-flying start on Thursday 1st October, with 'The President Presents!'. ECVS President Stewart Emm will welcome members old and new with a selection of highlights of the coming year and drinks and nibbles. There will also of course be ample opportunity to catch up with what ECVS members have been doing over the summer break. This first night of the new season will be held in the ECVS clubrooms at 23a Fettes Row. The evening commences at 7:30pm, all welcome!

	13th October 2014 Showing of "From Bedrooms to Billions" ECVS screened the "From Bedrooms to Billions" documentary, chronicling the rise and fall of the UK Video Game Industry from 1979 to the present day.

	3rd April 2014 Pilgrim Trust Competition The judge for this years Pilgrim Trust Competition (Brian Dunckley of Newcastle and his wife) have kindly agreed to visit ECVS to screen the entries in this years competition, present their comments and award the prize. Once again this year we have a good selection of entries and all (both ECVS members, entrants, and other interested parties) are welcome to attend!

	16th January 2014 ECVS Announces Budgie Cup (Still Photography) Competition 2014 Entries are now being accepted for the 2014 Budgie Cup Competition! The Budgie Cup competition is open to all current ECVS members. The competition will be held on the 14th February in the ECVS club rooms, closing date for entries is the 31st of January 2014. Entries are accepted in all reasonable formats. Please contact us for details if you wish to submit entries via email. Entrants are required to submit their name and the titles of up to six images entered.
	5th December 2013 The Art of Cinematography Alan Brown presented an evening entitled 'The Art of Cinematography'. Based on the book 'Cinematic Storytelling', by Jennifer Van Sijil, the evening consisted of the discussion of various cinematic techniques, used to convey meaning or atmosphere without the use of dialogue, illustrated by a number of short clips of the techniques in use in commercial films.
	29th November 2013 Choice of the Clubs The dark evenings are now descending and the time has come once again to get that film ready for the Choice of the Clubs Competition 2014! 	28th November 2013 Zero Budget Editing Following a discussion on zero budget editing - "Is it possible to produce and distribute a short film spending NO CASH whatsoever?", ECVS members experimented with a digital camera and free software to create a short animation, which can be viewed by clicking here.
	21st November 2013 Scriptwriting Stewart Emm once again presented an interesting and informative night for club members, this time examining the scriptwriting process, both for documentary and drama films.
	7th November 2013 Edinburgh's Silver Screens Stewart Emm took ECVS members back in time, on a virtual tour of Edinburgh, when cinema was in it's heyday. Many of the buildings we recognise today were infact cinemas in the past. In addition, many of the locations used as film locations over the years were pointed out an illustrated with clips from the movies.
	24th October 2013 Club Film Making Evening ECVS Members attempted to make a film in an evening. The subject of the film was 'My Neighbours Secret' (the subject for this years Strathclyde Competition run by the Scottish Association of Moviemakers). Our film was titled 'The Quiet Man' and members adopted various roles to produce the finished film. 'The Quiet Man' can be viewed by clicking here.
